Dave Morris
5th Dan
Sensei Dave Morris started Shotokan Karate at the age of 10, after seeing a neighbour in his back garden waving his arms and legs about making silly noises. This turned out to be him performing a Kata that he had learnt at the newly opened Shotokan Karate Club part of the MBK founded be sensei J M Flavell 5th Dan. On questioning his neighbour, Dave decided to try it for himself, and went to his first karate lesson. Training was hard. However with grit and determination Dave progressed through his kyu grades into the early 90's. David started teaching in 91 assisting the Sensei of his Dojo, as well as training during the sessions at his and other local dojo's.
In 92 he took the very last Dan grade allowed in the MBK at club level under JM Flavell, and LA Butler. He travelled the country with various Sensei and the MBK, fought in many competitions and trained under world renowned instructors in various styles. He attended over 200 courses throughout during his time with ASKC, in an attempt to broaden his knowledge of the martial arts to assist with his teaching. In late 2015 for the first time in nearly 30 years he found himself without a Dojo or Sensei, this only rekindled Daves love of learning new things and training with new people. He started to help out teaching at BCSK when required, then after nearly 6 years of the dojo being founded he became a official member of the team of clubs instructors.
